Asma GmbH was honored with the title “Flow of the Year”. The award recognized an innovative digitalization solution for the provision of molds for production.

With this solution, asma GmbH secured first place in the “Flow of the Year” competition. The award was presented during the “Vision Days” hosted by software manufacturer Asseco in Bad Vilbel near Frankfurt am Main.

The award recognized a digital process that maps the entire lifecycle of molds and installed components – from order release through deployment in production to return to storage. All work steps are centrally controlled and documented in a software system.

The idea for the process design came from Operations Manager Markus Wiesmeier, who contributed his many years of practical experience from production. The technical concept and implementation were carried out by data analyst and software developer Adele Brandeis. Together they created a solution that digitally connects production processes and makes them significantly more efficient.

The jury was particularly impressed by the comprehensive integration of different systems. A highlight is the direct connection to the Kardex storage lifts. Required molds can be requested directly through the digital process, whereupon the storage lifts are automatically controlled. This reduces search times, minimizes sources of error, and significantly improves transparency, process reliability, and efficiency.

The award-winning process was presented to around 600 participants from industry and business and met with great interest. The combination of ERP system, digital workflow, and automated storage technology was perceived as a particularly innovative approach.

In addition to the award ceremony, Markus Wiesmeier, Adele Brandeis, and Production Manager Jürgen Kettinger used the Vision Days to learn about current developments in the areas of artificial intelligence, process automation, and enterprise software. The insights gained will now flow into further digitalization projects at asma.

“This award confirms the digitalization path we have taken and shows what is possible through close collaboration between production and IT,” say Markus Wiesmeier and Adele Brandeis. “Our goal is to use modern technologies in a targeted manner to support our employees in the best possible way and to sustainably improve processes.”
